As the NHS continues its ambition to deliver a “left shift” – moving care out of hospitals and closer to home – clinical homecare is already doing this at scale. Supporting over 600,000 patients across the UK, it is helping to reduce pressure on hospitals, improve patient experience, and deliver more flexible, personalised care.
It was incredibly valuable to demonstrate firsthand how this works in practice. From complex compounding and logistics, through to patient care and hospital treatment at home, the visit highlighted that clinical homecare is far more than medicines supply; it is a comprehensive, outcomes-focused service that plays a critical role in the future of the NHS.
We look forward to continuing the conversation with NHS England colleagues on how clinical homecare can support the delivery of the 10 Year Health Plan and the neighbourhood health agenda.
A huge thank you to NCHA member’s Lloyds Clinical for hosting such an insightful and well-organised visit, showcasing the scale, complexity and patient focus of services delivered every day.
