Polar Speed Distribution Ltd is a leading pharmaceutical pre wholesale business, operating exclusively across the UK Healthcare market.
The business was founded in 1996, and has been actively focused on pharmaceutical distribution since 1999, when we were successful in winning our first UK national vaccine contract, one that we have successfully retained to the present day. From these formative years we have steadily and profitably expanded our business profile, with us acting on behalf of many of the leading global pharmaceutical manufacturers in supporting their UK logistics requirements.
Polar Speed operates a Hub and Spoke system, with 12 depots strategically sited across the UK, supported by a fleet of 150+ commercial vehicles and now employing 260+ staff across the total spectrum of employment skills.
Our model has been developed as a bespoke niche player, in focussing on a range of logistics services for the pharma market, that distinguishes us most notably as a premier multi temperature logistics service provider, as well as placing a heavy emphasis on both quality and customer service excellence.
Our business has grown almost exclusively organically, as a result of our reputation for service excellence in the UK market, and by tailoring a range of bespoke pharma services for clients. Our Clinical Homecare Pharmacy is one such example. This was developed in partnership with one major pharmaceutical company and has grown, in response to market demands, to become a major player in the clinical homecare industry.
In February 2014, UPS Inc. acquired 100% of the share capital of Polar Speed, which is now moving forward commercially as a fully owned subsidiary of UPS, reporting into their Brussels European HQ. UPS are currently developing a world-wide Healthcare network, to expand upon the already well developed operations in North America. Europe is one of the key market areas for development and Polar Speed has been acquired to both act as the UK market solution and to provide temperature controlled transport expertise that can be replicated on a wider European level. Polar Speed is specifically within the Supply Chain Services division of UPS and will not become integrated into the UPS Parcel network.
